A new way to play Zomboid

Survive. Build.
Make your mark.

Project Realism is a heavily customised Build 42 experience built around progression, risk and player interaction. Make money, arm yourself, claim a safehouse, pick your friends carefully — and live with what happens next.

It's more than surviving the apocalypse. Build your character, establish yourself, form alliances, take risks, and survive the consequences.

Come make your mark
01 · Earn

Rewarding economy

Sell jewellery, electronics, drugs and B42 farming goods. Build your wealth however you want to make it.

02 · Hold

Safehouses & raiding

Claim a safehouse with offline protection. Defend what you've built — or take the risk and go after someone else's.

03 · Spend

Guns, ammo, gear

Turn cash into an arsenal. Rifles, ammunition, attachments and equipment for whatever's around the next corner.

04 · Progress

2x XP & skill recovery

Double XP across the board, and a skill recovery journal at 100% — so dying costs you gear and ground, not every hour you've put in.

05 · Breach

Codelocks & C4

Custom locks with six-digit codes, and craftable charges for when the code isn't coming. See how they work.

06 · Room

64 slots

A public 64-slot server with the population to make an economy and a rivalry actually work.

Some areas have better loot. Some are far more dangerous.

The best rewards will almost always come with the biggest risks. There are multiple ways to make money throughout Knox County — every one of them puts you on a road with other players on it.

The economy

Find the goods.
Reach the buyer.

Fences

Scattered across the county

Fences buy the valuable stuff, no questions asked. Find it, carry it, get there alive.

  • Drugs Cash
  • Jewellery Cash
  • Electronics Cash
  • Other valuables Cash

Just don't get killed on the way there.

Farmers market

Built on B42 farming & survival

A slower, safer living — if you're willing to work the land and the livestock.

  • Leather Cash
  • Honey Cash
  • Fish Cash
  • Wool & milk Cash
  • Tobacco Cash
  • Farmed goods Cash

Spend it

Guns · Ammo · Attachments · Gear

With your hard-earned cash you build the arsenal you want, not the one the loot table gave you. Buy the calibre you can actually feed, the optic you can actually use, and the plate carrier that gets you home.

  • Firearms and ammunition in stock
  • Your favourite weapon attachments
  • Protective gear and equipment
  • Prepare for whatever — or whoever — is waiting

Beyond the gate

Step outside and
you're fair game.

Your base is only as safe as you can defend it. Trade routes aren't safe. Roads aren't safe. Anyone can be watching. Learn the map, watch your surroundings, and think twice before trusting another survivor.

Risk · Low

The outskirts

Farms, forests and quiet roads. Steady income, thin margins, and mostly the dead to worry about.

Risk · Contested

Trade routes

Everyone has to reach a buyer eventually. That's exactly why people sit and wait on the way in.

Risk · Extreme

High-value zones

The best loot and the highest-value items. Naturally, they attract the most players — and the most PvP.

Safehouses & raiding

Claim a safehouse and it's protected while you're offline. When you're online, it's yours to defend. Player raiding is part of the game — so is losing. Make allies, make enemies, and create your own story.

  • Safehouses with offline protection
  • Player raiding and open PvP
  • Custom vehicles to find, fix and drive
The mod list

70+ mods, chosen not collected

A carefully selected collection that expands the game with new items, mechanics, vehicles, locks and progression — while keeping the core survival experience intact. Nothing on the list is there to pad a number.

Staff & community

Run by people who play here

An experienced, active and fair staff team focused on keeping the server enjoyable, balanced and welcoming. Report rule breakers instead of retaliating — it gets handled.

Locks & demolition

Every door is a
problem to solve.

Custom-built for this server. Lock your base down behind a code nobody can guess — or stop guessing and blow the door off its hinges.

Codelocks

Craftable · keypad on the door

A six-digit code instead of a key you can lose or have looted off your corpse. Fit a keypad to any door and share the code with who you trust.

  • Six-digit code, set by you
  • Codes remembered per player — enter it once
  • Three wrong attempts locks the keypad out
  • No keys to carry, drop or lose
  • Doors open on an explicit interact — never by walking near

C4 charges

Craftable · doors only

When the code isn't coming, bring the door down. Two tiers depending on what you can afford to build.

  • C4 charge — the real thing, for hard targets
  • Homemade charge — cheaper, weaker, louder problem
  • Accelerating countdown beep before it goes
  • Doors only — walls and floors stay intact
  • Everyone nearby hears it. Plan the exit first

Offline protection

Nobody takes your base while you sleep

While your safehouse is under offline protection, it can't be sledged, dismantled, scrapped, burned or chewed through. Log in and it's fair game again — that's when raids happen, with you there to answer them.

Events

Something is
always happening.

We run regular in-game events — announced in Discord, fought over in Knox County. Show up armed.

Server rules

Play fair.
Fight hard. Keep it fun.

Read all of this before you spawn in. “I didn’t know” is not a defense, and these rules change — check back after updates.

01

PvP & raiding

Everything is fair game. Kill, loot, ambush, betray, raid.

  • No safe hours. If you’re online, you’re a target.
  • Griefing is not PvP. Take what you want and leave — wrecking crops, generators, vehicles or doors for nothing is a ban.
  • No spawn camping. Give fresh spawns a chance to move.
  • Don’t retaliate against rule breakers — report them.
02

Combat & raid logging

If you’re in it, you stay in it.

  • Logging out during a fight, a chase or a raid — attacker or defender — is a ban.
  • Stay online for 10 minutes after the last shot you fire or take.
  • Defenders logging off mid-raid to trigger offline protection is the same offense.
  • Real disconnects happen. Open a ticket straight away and reconnect if you can.
  • Repeat “accidents” are treated as intent.
03

Accounts

One account per player. No alts.

  • No alts to scout, hold loot, dodge limits or watch bases.
  • No account sharing, selling or trading.
  • No real money trading. Selling items, money or accounts for cash is an instant permanent ban.
  • Ban evasion bans every account you own, permanently.
  • No impersonating staff or other players.
04

Safe zones & traders

No PvP, theft or raiding inside a safe zone.

  • No camping safe zone exits. Stay well clear if you’re hunting.
  • No luring players or zombies into a safe zone.
  • Abusing trader prices, dupes or economy bugs is an instant permanent ban.
05

Cheating & exploits

Zero tolerance. Permanent ban, first offense.

  • Cheats, hacks, injectors, macros, autoclickers or third-party tools.
  • Duping items, money or vehicles by any method.
  • Abusing bugs, glitches or map holes for any advantage.
  • Intentionally crashing, lagging or attacking the server.
  • Found a bug? Report it — reporting gets you rewarded, using it gets you banned.
06

Behavior

Trash talk and in-character threats are part of PvP. Keep it in game.

  • Zero tolerance: hate speech, slurs, harassment, real-life threats, doxxing, or any sexual content involving minors.
  • No mic spam, chat spam or soundboards.
  • No advertising other servers or poaching players.
  • No offensive character or display names.
  • Discord’s rules apply here and in game.
07

Reports & appeals

Report through a ticket, never in public chat.

  • Evidence required. Video is best. No proof, no action.
  • Report within 48 hours of the incident.
  • One appeal per punishment, in a ticket. Appealing in public voids it.
  • Don’t ask staff for the outcome of someone else’s report.
08

Punishments

Warning → kick → temp ban → permanent ban.

  • Staff apply what fits the offense. Some offenses skip the ladder entirely.
  • Straight to permanent: cheating, duping, real money trading, ban evasion, doxxing, hate speech.
  • Punishments carry across both Discord and the server.
  • No gear refunds for deaths, bugs or raids. Play like it’s already gone — because it is.

Building a base? The base building rules are separate and just as enforced.

Base building

Build it like someone
has to break in.

Because they do.

C4 only breaches doors

It does not break walls, floors, fences or barricades. A wall with no door behind it isn’t a strong layer — it’s an unraidable one.

The test: if a raider with unlimited C4 still can’t reach your loot, your base is illegal.

01

The 5-door rule

Max 5 doors or gates between the outside world and any loot.

  • Applies to every route in, not just the shortest one.
  • Splitting loot between rooms does not raise the limit.
  • Only doors and gates count. Walls, fences and barricades don’t.
02

C4 only breaks doors

If C4 can’t reach your loot, your base is illegal.

  • Every room must have a door. No sealing rooms with walls only.
  • No blocking doorways with vehicles, crates, furniture or barricades.
  • No fake entrances, fake loot rooms or dead-end doors.
  • Five empty tiles between doors. No mazing.
03

Codelocks

Each codelocked door counts as one layer.

  • One lock per doorway.
  • Your own base and your own vehicles only.
  • No decoy locks on dead ends or empty rooms.
  • Never lock public buildings — police, military, medical, gun stores, gas stations.
04

Raiding

If it’s walled or gated and it isn’t yours, it’s a base. Going in is a raid.

  • C4 is the only sanctioned raid tool. No glitching, clipping or building your way in.
  • 24 hour cooldown — once you raid a base, nobody in your group may raid it again for 24 hours.
  • Loot it, don’t claim it. Never put your own codelock on someone else’s door.
  • No sealing a base mid-raid to lock the owners out.
  • No logging out inside a base you just raided.
  • No raiding within 15 minutes of a restart. C4 lost to a restart isn’t refunded.
  • Record your raids. No footage, no dispute.
05

Height & stairs

Every floor holding loot needs working stairs.

  • No removing, walling off or blocking stairs.
  • No sheet-rope-only loot floors.
  • Max 3 floors above ground. No sky bases, no stacked towers.
  • Basements count as loot rooms — keep the stairwell clear.
06

Traps & fortifications

Traps are a deterrent, not a layer. Nothing may stand in for a door.

  • Doorways must stay walkable once the door is blown — nothing built, placed or parked on that tile or the one behind it.
  • Fortify freely: barricades, fences, sandbags, wire and one lookout tower are all fine, as long as a legal door path to your loot still exists.
  • No death boxes or one-way shooting positions.
  • No removing floor tiles to make fall traps.
  • No sealing raiders in. Doors and gates may not trap someone inside your base.
07

Where you can’t build

Keep the map usable for everyone.

  • Never block roads or bridges.
  • No claiming or blocking military, police, medical, fire, gun stores, gas stations, warehouses or malls.
  • No blocking spawns, wells, pumps or generators.
  • No building against another group’s base.
08

Vehicles

Max 2 vehicles stored inside your base.

  • One vehicle-only garage allowed — no loot inside it.
  • Vehicle parts only in locked garages and trunks. Anything else gets deleted.
  • Never use vehicles as walls or door blockers.
09

Limits & enforcement

One base per player or group. No alt bases, no decoy bases.

  • Untouched for 14 days = removed.
  • Staff can edit or remove illegal builds without warning.
  • Deliberate exploits — unraidable bases, honeycombing, fake loot rooms — are a removal plus a ban.

Not sure your design is legal? Post a screenshot in a safehouse ticket before you build it, not after staff find it.
